Tampa Bay

After leaving that disgusting hotel in St. Petersburg, we arrived in Tampa Bay on 3rd December. We booked into a Days Inn and used a coupon out of a travel guide we picked up at a visitor centre. The coupons allow you to stay in really nice rooms for as little as $45 a night.

The first 2 days we had a look rounds Tampa Bay, and then went shopping in one of the malls. The malls here on average are the size of the biggest ones we have in the UK. We did quite a bit of shopping and managed to bag some real bargains, as most of the clothes seem to be half the price of what we would get in England.

The last day in Tampa was spent exploring Busch Gardens. This theme park / zoo is a great place. The roller coaster rides, of which there are 6, are some of the best we have ever been on. One ride drops vertically for about 80 feet before levelling off. I think we went on that one 3 times.

The zoo is also very well done. They have a hippo enclosure where you can look through the glass at them swimming. We got some really good video that you can check out below. The elephants were also good to see. On one safari ride, Shaun was picked from a group to navigate. There wasn't really much for him to do and it seemed the navigator was only there so the driver had somebody to play jokes on.

Busch Gardens took up a whole day, and we returned to the hotel having felt like we had run a marathon. The following morning we set out on our journey to Cocoa Beach, near the Kennedy Space Centre.
